Failures are mistakes, bad choices, regrets, and
self-inflicted wounds that the Bible calls sin. David said,
"My guilt has overwhelmed me like a burden too heavy to
bear." [Psalm 38:4]
Father God understands our failures. Though they are like
hazardous waste spills, "The Lord is like a father to His
children, tender and compassionate to those who fear Him,
for He understands how weak we are; He knows we are only
dust." [Psalm 103:13-14]
No one needs to tell Father about human nature; yet, He
loves us and forgives our failures. "'Come now, let us argue
this out,' say the Lord, 'No matter how deep the stain of
your sins, I can remove it. I can make you as clean as
freshly fallen snow. Even if you are stained as red as
crimson, I can make you white as wool.'" [Isaiah 1:18]
Grace has no limit! We cannot out-sin the love and grace of
God. In First Timothy 1, we read that though once a
blasphemer and persecutor and a violent man, Paul was shown
mercy because he acted in ignorance and unbelief. Grace
poured onto him abundantly, along with the faith and love
that are in Christ Jesus. Paul continued, "Christ Jesus came
into the world to save sinners--of whom I am the worst." [I
Timothy 1:15]
Gordon Macdonald, a man who suffered great failure, said,
"Broken-world experiences are usually the turnaround moments
ushering people into greater and more powerful performances
of character, courage, and achievement. In pain, failure,
and brokenness, God does His finest work in
the lives of people."
Psalm 103:12 "As far as the east is from the west, so far
has He removed our transgressions from us." Abounding grace!
